Arvind Kejriwal's plea against arrest dismissed, court says he 'conspired'

High Court has dismissed Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest in the liquor policy case, observing that the Delhi Chief Minister "conspired with others" and was "actively involved in using the proceeds of crime".

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case linked with the alleged excise scam. Meanwhile, AAP said that it will move the Supreme Court tomorrow challenging the high court verdict.

Following the high court order, AAP boss - whom the Enforcement Directorate has dubbed the 'kingpin' of the liquor policy case - will remain in Tihar Jail till April 15, as per Delhi Rouse Avenue court's previous order.

The Delhi High Court dismissed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea to challenge his arrest in a money laundering case linked to an excise scam. AAP plans to challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court tomorrow. Kejriwal, dubbed the 'kingpin' of the liquor policy case, will remain in Tihar Jail until April 15, following the high court order.

The Delhi High Court has ruled that Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of AAP, was involved in using proceeds of crime and conspiring with others. The court also noted that Kejriwal was personally involved in formulating the now-scrapped liquor policy and demanding kickbacks. The court also noted that Kejriwal participated in activities linked to the scandal as the national convenor of AAP.

The court ruled that Kejriwal's challenge to the timing of his arrest before the Lok Sabha elections is "not sustainable" and that the court must examine his arrest and remand according to the law, regardless of the timing of the elections. The court rejected the contention that Kejriwal could have been questioned through VC and stated that there cannot be any specific privilege for anyone, including the Chief Minister.

AAP leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that he respects the Delhi High Court but does not agree with its decision on Kejriwal and will move the Supreme Court. They believe it will give relief to CM Kejriwal like it gave relief to Sanjay Singh.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh will meet Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi's Tihar Jail on Wednesday. Mann had sought permission from the Tihar Jail administration to meet Kejriwal, and sources in AAP said they will meet the Delhi Chief Minister at around 1 pm on Wednesday.
