Latest News, Live Updates Today April 10, 2024: ‘Mamata Banerjee misleading people on CAA’: Amit Shah in West Bengal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of misleading people over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Shah stated that the CAA law has been passed, and Banerjee is misleading the people of Bengal by claiming that applying for CAA will result in losing citizenship. He assured that refugees will be granted citizenship under CAA, regardless of their opposition. Shah also criticized Banerjee for not working to stop infiltration in West Bengal, as these infiltrators form her vote-bank. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a BJP government in West Bengal to ensure an unparalleled transformation. Shah also mentioned that if the BJP government forms a government in West Bengal, it will stop infiltration. West Bengal is currently polling for 42 seats in all seven phases of the general elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the Trinamool Congress won 22 of the 42 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 18. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.

This is an emerging story. Updates will be made.
